Philip Wilson Steer OM (1860 – 1942) was a British painter of landscapes, seascapes plus portraits. Steer’s seascapes and landscapes paintings made the painter a leader in the Impressionist movement in Britain but turned to a more traditional English style, influenced by John Constable and J. M. W. Turner, and started painting in the countryside rather than on the coast.
